January 9, 2012

Catching up – 5 January 2012 – We have been in the south and west of Hawaii for the last week and so I will create a series of posts to get you caught up and will do it in order so that you can follow along better. I will then try to catch you up on the last few days.

2 January 2012 – After an eventful 1st of January lack of departure, things went pretty smoothly today. We got to the airport and checked in and our flights, while all full, were uneventful if cramped and all arrived early. We got to Kona and went to get our rental car. I was checked in by a guy named Hans who, when I told him we were frog researchers, gave us a free upgrade on our car. That was nice as we have effectively filled it up will all our junk. We arrived a Spencer Beach park and set up camp in one of the few campsites that remained. We went to bed and fell promptly asleep.
