I have not blogged since 2006 so here goes…

My interests are science in general, evolution and ecology in particular. As an academic, I am also interested in the life of the mind, teaching, the past and future of higher education and especially, how education treats my own chosen subdisciplines, evolution and ecology.

At times I will blog from the boring confines of my office. At others I will blog from field sites where I am actively doing research. Sometimes I will blog about the academic plight and challenges of being a professor in the changing environment of the 21st century. Sometimes I will rant about the way science is covered in the press and try to rectify the coverage to the best of my ability. I hope to learn a lot in doing this and I hope you learn something, too.
